Village Sultanwind, adjacent to Amritsar city was adorned with a plaque by the British after the World War One which lasted from 1914-1919 in memory of 135 Indian soldiers from this village who fought for British and 7 of them laid down their lives as well fighting the enemies.

My video on plaque in honour of Indian soldiers who fought n World War One, installed at village Sultanwind in Amritsar.

Its just a little effort on my part which is my responsibility as well to bring the condition of this plaque to the notice of authorities or some NGOs who work for the preservation of such precious pieces of history. The plaque has been installed on one of the entrance walls to the old police station of Sultanwind village, dating back to the British era. The old police station is nonfunctional since 2008 and the new police station has been constructed near the Upperbari Doab Canal (UBD Canal) which lies between the city of Amritsar and Sultanwind village.

I sincerely hope that this plaque (called Sil in Punjabi) is preserved appropriately so that the part of history associated with it is also preserved. It could be re-installed at some suitable place where it could last much longer if not forever.

This is also a part of the rich heritage of Punjab.

I talked to the villagers in a bid to know about the whereabouts of families or any family to which any of these soldiers might be related but so far I have not been able to find much information on this.

Please let me know if anyone knows more related to this plaque or if someone knows about any family members of the soldiers to which this plaque is dedicated.
